Addressing Injuries

At Sheaffer Family Chiropractic, we see many grade school and high school athletes that play collision sports. Gymnasts, cheerleaders, wrestlers, football players and hockey players often experience various injuries for which they seek our care. We also have a lot of adults who play softball and golf, and who get hurt playing those sports. It’s common to see many athletes with back and neck pain, as well as shoulder, knee and hip problems.

Our natural and effective care can help athletes recover from their injuries and return to their favorite sport. “I particularly love seeing little kids get back in the game again. If they haven’t been able to play basketball, hockey or whatever, and their injury is healing and they can get back in the game, it is so rewarding,” said Dr. Sheaffer.

Whether you’re seeking to shave a minute off your mile, run that marathon or improve your golf game, chiropractic care can help you be at your competitive best. Dr. Sheaffer has many over 80-year-old practice members who want to continue playing golf. If something interferes with their golf swing, it will affect their score.

Chiropractic can help with their swing, range of motion and more, allowing them to play well into their twilight years and perhaps beat their friends! “I love it when older people can play a sport, such as golf or pickleball, and enjoy being active again,” said Dr. Sheaffer.

You will have an exam and scans with the Subluxation Station. If you have an extremity issue (such as a shoulder or knee injury) and Dr. Sheaffer thinks you need X-rays, he will send you out for those.

When it’s time for the adjustment, Dr. Sheaffer uses a low-force drop table and instruments to adjust spine and extremities. He adjusts gently because he wants to make sure your chiropractic adjustments are comfortable.

Dr. Sheaffer is a Certified Chiropractic Extremity Practitioner (CCEP). This designation sets him apart from other chiropractors, as not many in the area adjust extremities. Many practice members seek his care, as he’s well known for doing a lot of extremity work. He can address injuries of the shoulder, knee, hip, ankle, foot, etc.
