What will happen on my first visit?
The first visit is essentially to gather the necessary information to see if chiropractic is right for you. You will meet with Dr. Sheaffer after filling out some brief paperwork describing your health history and your health goals. The initial consultation is free, so that we can get to know one another and decide whether or not we can accept you as a patient in our office. If both of us decide to continue past the initial consultation, a fee will be charged for the computerized spinal exam described in the following paragraphs. If you are a good candidate for chiropractic care and we think chiropractic can help you the next step is an examination. In the examination we will be checking for a condition that happens in the spine called a vertebral subluxation. A vertebral subluxation is probably the most common spinal injury and results in a disruption to the flow of intelligence from your brain to your body; it interferes with your Mind-Body connection. If you have subluxation chiropractic will be able to help you and you will love what we do. A chiropractic examination in our office is focused on discovering any previous spinal injuries with nerve damage, there are many parts to the exam and each part is explained as we perform the exam. Depending on your history and what we discover in the exam Dr. Sheaffer may order x-rays of your spine to confirm his exam findings and to help determine approximately how long the problem has actually been there.
The importance of each of these tests will be explained to you at your Report of Findings. However, it is important to note that this examination helps scientifically understand the subluxation processes going on in your spine. It also gives us a baseline for future tests so we can accurately measure your progress to see how your spine is correcting and your nervous system is functioning. Using the Insight Millennium Subluxation Examination is much more accurate that just depending on "how you feel" on any given day. Please click here to download a "pdf" copy of normal Thermal and SEMG scans with an explanation of how to interpret these scans. At the end of the first visit we will give you some information on what the doctor examined you for and we will schedule your second appointment. On your second visit as soon as you enter the office you will watch a short video that will help you better understand your x-rays and doctors report. He will give a Report of his examination findings, go over his recommendations for your care, and discuss your insurance and financial options. Once you choose to begin care we will schedule your New Patient Orientation, this lays the foundation for all future visits in the office. There is no charge for the New Patient Orientation or your Report of Findings. We are simply providing you with the necessary information to make a decision on participating in chiropractic care in our office. Once you decide to participate we will review our office policies and procedures with you, schedule your appointments, make your payment arrangements, and then begin your chiropractic adjustments. Future visits in the office will be focused on the reduction and correction of your subluxations and therefore will not consume very much time. Periodically we will perform Progress Exams to evaluate your progress and see how your spine is correcting and stabilizing. We will do all we can to get you to Wellness care as quickly as possible. You will be joining millions of others worldwide that have enjoyed better health through chiropractic. Congratulations on your decision to participate in chiropractic care in our office. ***To save you time on your initial visit please go to the “forms” page on this website and you can download the Case History form, print it out, fill it in with as much detail as possible, and then call our office to arrange your first visit. |
